Gervais' Onion River Clippers in downtown Winooski was establised in 1912. Susannah and Karen became the third owner of the business in 1996. In 2004, the Winooski development project turned their neighborhood into a construction zone so they rented a new location on upper Main St. in 2005, and their business rebounded.
Despite long term relationships with their own banks and a proven track record of 12 years in business, they were unable to take advantage of a new opportunity to purchase a commercial condo space just down the street from their site. Because of their consistent ability to make wise business decisions, Opportunities Credit Union was able to work with the Small Business Administration's 504 program and Granite State Economic Development Corporation to finance the purchase of their own business condo.
